Barbara Hanna along with other UC Davis nursing, medicine scholars participate in first multi-institution collaborative policy program in the nation's capitol

SACRAMENTO, California
Nursing, medicine and health-care scholars from UC Davis, the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University participated last week in a first-of-its-kind multi-institution program in Washington, D.C., to develop health-care professionals' leadership skills and policy expertise.

The Leadership Education and Policy Development Program, led by Mary Lou de Leon Siantz, a professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and Robert Waste, the assistant director of government and community relations at UC Davis Health System, brought an interprofessional group of eight students and scholars from three different academic institutions to the nation's capitol for a policy-intensive seminar. Barbara Hanna, agency President and Chief Executive Officer for Home & Health Care Management accepted into the UC Davis doctoral class for Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership program

Barbara Hanna, President and owner of Home and Health Care Management located in Chico, CA is one out of only eight students to be accepted into the University of California at Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing Doctoral program for Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership in 2011. Ms. Hanna received a full four year scholarship to attend classes beginning this fall.

This highly competitive program is designed to advance health and ignite leadership through innovative education, transformative research and bold system change. Students will focus on important societal health issues, and they will promote health and advance the quality of care and safety for all populations. These leaders will serve to shape the policies that affect the health care industry. Ms. Hanna stated, “I am excited about this professional opportunity that will provide me with the skills and knowledge to become a principal investigator and expand the services/programs the agency provides, improving the health of residents in the North State.”

Julie Lehmann awarded the certification for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation

Julie Lehmann, Director of Professional Services for Home & Health Care Management has Successfully completed the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical exam and was awarded the certification for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation.

To achieve the COS-C designation, (sponsored by the OASIS Certificate and Competency Board), an individual must successfully complete a 100 item, two and a half hour exam. Since its inception in late 2004, the OCCB has tested over 8,000 candidates looking to demonstrate their OASIS competency.

The Outcome and Assessment Information Set, (OASIS), is a quality measure used in home health agencies across the country to enhance care for patients in the home. Home and Health Care Management (H&HCM) has been serving the North State area for 32 years. H&HCM encourages its employees to obtain additional training and certifications to better serve its clients. The OASIS Certificate and Competency Board, Inc. (OCCB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting greater reliability in OASIS data, through consistent application of guidelines provided by the Centers for Medicate & Medicaid Services (CMS). The OCCB facilitates this goal by offering a voluntary certificate examination which home care providers may take in order to demonstrate and establish their expertise and commitment to OASIS data accuracy.

Home & Healthcare Management Announces Re-Brand Launch with ID International at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Home & Health Care Management celebrated its 30th year in business with an official Re-Brand Launch and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony recently at their main office in Chico, California. It was well attended by the Chico Chamber of Commerce President, Board of Directors, staff and ambassadors, supportive banks and retail businesses. Also in attendance were representatives  Norman Gonzales, from Congressman Tom McClintock’s office and Steve Thompson from Assemblyman Dan Logue’s office.

In 1979 Barbara Hanna, CEO and founder of Home & Health Care Management, responded to a significant need for quality professional home and health care here in California. Today Home & Health Care Management helps people living from Sacramento all the way north to the Oregon border, growing from it’s headquarters in Chico and an office in Redding.
