Now Offering State Required Health and Safety Training Courses for Childcare and Foster Care Providers!


Home & Health Care is now offering regularly-scheduled CPR, First Aid and Preventative Health and Safety courses. If you are a Childcare or Foster Care Provider, and have staff that are in need of training or re-certification, we can assist you in meeting the State of California licensing requirements. These classes are offered in combination or you can take them as stand-alone courses.

Classes are scheduled at our Chico training center, or as an added benefit we can come to your location. We are certified to teach for both the American Red Cross and EMS Safety Services programs.

Preventative Health & Safety Training

Length of class: 7 hours
Course Description: This class meets the California State regulations for childcare providers. The class will cover subjects such as safe food handling, nutrition, emergency preparedness and evacuation, caring for special needs children, prevention/recognition and management of infectious diseases, immunizations, injury prevention, and identification and proper reporting of child abuse. Once taken there is no need for recertification; this course has no expiration date. Certification Cards Available: American Red Cross

Childcare Provider CPR and FIRST AID

Length of class: 8 hours
Course Description: This class in conjunction with the Preventative Health & Safety class meets the State of California requirements for childcare providers. Students will learn Basic CPR along with First Aid, with a focus on the pediatric population. Certification Cards Available: EMS Safety, American Red Cross*

Childcare Provider CPR and FIRST AID / Health and Safety Training

Length of class: 15 hours (2 days)
Course Description: This 2-day class is a State-approved childcare provider course. The first day of instruction includes Childcare Provider CPR and First Aid (CPR/FA). The second day of instruction will be the Preventative Health & Safety class. Certification Cards Available: CPR/FA-EMS Safety or American Red Cross*, Preventative Health & Safety-American Red Cross

Basic CPR (Adult, Child, and Infant)

Length of class: 4 hours
Course Description: This is a community-focused, comprehensive training program in emergency resuscitation for the lay rescuer. This program will teach students how to perform resuscitation for infant, child, and adults who are victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, as well as those who are unresponsive or choking. This class does not fulfill the State requirements for Childcare Providers. Certification Cards Available: EMS Safety, American Red Cross*

Basic First Aid

Length of class: 4 hours
Course Description: This course is designed to train individuals who want or require training in Basic First Aid skills. This program will provide Basic First Aid training to students, giving them the skills necessary to manage illnesses and injuries until the arrival of advance medical personnel. Basic first aid is designed to complement cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training in order to meet OSHA requirements for first aid training in the workplace or occupational setting. This class does not fulfill the State requirements for Childcare Providers. Certification Cards Available: EMS Safety, American Red Cross*

*American Red Cross CPR and First Aid cards are good for only 1 year; EMS Safety CPR and First Aid cards are good for 2 years
